Wilhelm Holzbauer war von 1977 bis zu seiner Emeritierung 1999 Leiter einer der drei Meisterklassen fur Architektur an der Universitat (damals Hochschule) fur angewandte Kunst in Wien. Seine Lehrtatigkeit wurde von einer Reihe von Lehrbeauftragten und Hochschulassistenten wie Dimitris Manikas, Heiner Furst, Ernst Mayr, Roman Delugan und anderen unterstutzt. Unter Anleitung dieser glucklichen Konstellation von Lehrenden schufen die Studenten und Studentinnen Phantasieprojekte und Projekte zu damals aktuellen Bauaufgaben, die zum Teil von der Wirklichkeit uberholt wurden, aber zum Teil auch heute noch aktuell sind. Einige der damaligen Studenten/Studentinnen sind mittlerweile anerkannte Architekten (z. B. Carlo Baumschlager, Roman Delugan, Hubert Hermann, Ernst Mayr, Francy Valentiny, Susanne Zottl und viele andere) und konnen auf eine Vielzahl von Bauten verweisen. Die Publikation stellt die Entwurfe der damaligen Studenten den Arbeiten der heutigen Architekten gegenuber.
