Synopsis

The author tells of his memories and experiences growing up in Birmingham during the 1940s, 50s and 60s. He links this to his lifelong hobby of railways, starting with the 'trainspotting years' through to being a volunteer on the Severn Valley Railway.Much of the book is about adventures, escapades, journeys across Britain and friendships in pursuit of his hobby. It will appeal to those who recall the era of steam and the coming of diesel locomotives. The book recaptures memories of a bygone age for railway enthusiasts, historians and anyone who remembers those days. The photographs included are mainly railway related and nearly all were taken by the author.
