Synopsis

Based in the mid-1950s and set in the suburbs of London, this nostalgic novel accurately recalls teenage life during those early postwar years. Covering two years in the life of a young girl with an overprotective mother, Trembling on the Brink follows Charis Mitchell and her friends as they blossom into adulthood. In their optimistic world, which revolves around school exams, parties, coffee bars, youth and jazz clubs, the church and dances, they suffer and enjoy the many new experiences and emotions that enter their lives.
