Methoden der Programm-Entwicklung kennt man seitdem es Computer gibt. Auf- grund der Ver�nderung der Leistungen, die auf dem Computer bew�ltigt werden k�nnen, verschieben sich ebenfalls seit dieser Zeit die Ziele der Programmierung. W�hrend es in der Anfangsphase mehr darauf ankam, m�glichst viele Maschinen- befehle auf dem verf�gbaren kleinen Speicherplatz darzustellen, ging es in den 50er und 60er Jahren prim�r darum, m�glichst schnelle und effektive Programme zu entwickeln, wobei der Schwerpunkt sowohl auf der Geschwindigkeit als auch auf der Speicherknappheit lag. Heute d�rften die wesentlichen Ziele darin beste- hen, Programme so zu entwickeln, da� sie m�glichst computerunabh�ngig und �nderungsfreundlich sind. Diesem Wandel ist auch die Bezeichnung der Programm-Entwicklung gefolgt. Heu- te wird kaum noch von Programmierung oder Software-Entwicklung gesprochen, sondern es wird nur noch Software-Engineering betrieben, um zu verdeutlichen, da� zur Entwicklung von Programmen eine gewisse Methodik und Systematik vor- liegen mu�, da Erfahrungen gezeigt haben, da� man bei Anwendung dieser Metho- dik auch bei individuellen Fragestellungen robuste und kosteng�nstige Programme erh�lt.
