Chrysalis Children's Books have gathered together the favourite tales from master-storytellers Terry Jones and Nanette Newman in one enchanting volume, illustrated throughout in the magically vivid watercolours of Michael Foreman. A boastful herring: a lying, flying tiger; a cat called Spider and a rather unconventional bear: all these and more magical creatures are waiting to whisk you away in these delightfully different bedtime stories.

Terry Jones is perhaps best known as a scriptwriter and member of the Monty Python team. He is a highly successful performer, director and writer for film, radio and television. His books for children have been enormously popular, including Fairy Tales and Fantastic Stories, The Knight and the Squire and The Lady and the Squire, all published by Chrysalis Children's Books. Nanette Newman has received considerable acclaim for her long and varied acting career in films and on television. She has been equally successful as an author of over thirty titles, particularly with her cookery books and many books for children. These include My Granny and Ben's Book, both published by Chrysalis Children's Books. Michael Foreman's artwork has earned him widespread recognition as one of the world's leading illustrators. He has created a vast range of children's books, and has collaborated with Terry Jones on all of his books for children. He also writes and illustrates his own books, including War Boy and War Game, winners respectively of the Kate Greenaway Medal and the Smarties Book Prize. Recent titles for Chrysalis Children's Books include the classic stories Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
