Synopsis

This is a beautifully-illustrated collection of twenty-five stories for children. Each is based on Russian folklore with a definite moral or lesson to be learned, similar in scope to Aesop's fables. All the stories reflect Tolstoy's humor and respect for nature. This collection is warm, earthy, and filled with the wisdom of everyday life.
