Synopsis

Ce livre est un guide pratique et complet destine a donner la maitrise de la conception de processus, de leur developpement et du langage. Celui-ci est explique en details. Des extraits de code et exemples complets illustrent la facon de specifier les processus. Deux serveurs BPEL majeurs, Oracle BPEL Process Manager et Microsoft BizTalk Server, sont traites en detail et d'autres serveurs sont egalement presentes. Les services web sont la plateforme technique de base requise pour l'interoperabilite des applications. Ils ne permettent pas toutefois de controler l'ordre et la maniere dont les operations qu'ils exposent sont invoquees. Ils ne fournissent pas non plus de moyen de decrire la semantique des interfaces, les workflows ou les processus metier electroniques. BPEL est le chainon manquant qui permet d'assembler et d'integrer les services web dans des processus reels. BPEL standardise l'automatisation des processus entre services web, qu'ils soient deployes au sein de l'entreprise afin d'integrer des systemes auparavant isoles, ou entre entreprises pour faciliter l'integration entre partenaires commerciaux.En fournissant une structure de description standard, BPEL permet aux entreprises de definir leurs processus durant la phase de conception.

Ceci engendre des benefices encore plus larges en permettant d'optimiser ces processus, de les re-agencer et de selectionner les plus appropries. Supporte par les grands editeurs de logiciels -BEA, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Microsoft, Novell, Oracle, SAP, Sun et d'autres - BPEL est en train de devenir le standard en matiere de gestion des processus metier (BPM ou Business Process Management). Ce livre couvre de facon exhaustive le langage, sa syntaxe et son usage. Il commence par donner une vue d'ensemble des services web, leurs fondements et justifie le besoin d'un langage tel que BPEL. La couche technologique des services web est decrite, y compris les standards tels que WS-Security, WS-Coordination, WS-Transaction, WS-Addressing et d'autres. Le langage BPEL lui-meme est decrit en detail et des extraits de code ainsi que des exemples complets illustrent a la fois sa syntaxe et les constructions de processus typiques.Apres avoir traite du langage, le livre aborde la facon de le mettre en ouvre en donnant une vue d'ensemble des principaux serveurs BPEL.

Deux d'entre eux, Oracle BPEL Process Manager et Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 sont traites en detail et des exemples complets de mise en ouvre a l'aide de ces serveurs sont fournis.
