Synopsis

This is a guide which provides readers with strategies for conducting research on the Web. Partly a guide to writing research papers and partly an introduction to Web searching, this book demonstrates how to use Web tools to search the Web and libraries on the Internet, and suggests ways to organize the material gathered. It clarifies the interplay between traditional book sources, electronic resources and Web sources in the research process by integrating library searching and Web searching throughout the research and writing process. It also provides other general advice on writing research papers, as well as specific advice for the Internet, including guidelines for establishing research questions, and contains sections on Internet citation style, and suggestions on incorporating Web pages and e-mail messages research notes. The text features a Web page for subscribers, with interactive areas where readers can locate research partners and read chapter updates. Finally, it concludes with exercises and suggested writing assignments using Internet and Web topics.
