Synopsis

Deadly Fruits is a collection of five dark humoured plays, with an extra short story added to round off this volume of thought provoking tales of horror. The book begins with, Savage Surgical, a Victorian fantasy play emphasising the motives of the Whitechapel Murderer, Jack the Ripper. But what makes this screenplay interesting is that the narrative is told from the deathbed of the alleged killer, some thirty five years after the murders. Pandora's Bag is another tangible piece about an old jogger who finds a woman's bag on the heath whilst out jogging early one evening. What is so disturbing to read is how the jogger deals with his find. State of Mind is a one act play, not only of which focuses on the intrusion of CCTV, but also spotlights a happily married couple whose lives have been perfectly normal up until what takes place on the night of the Switch Off. Boiling Point is a short play featuring two successful rock musicians and their quest for a better standard of living. But is this luxury block of apartments right for them? Scorpion is another short piece which features two ruthless henchmen who are played off against one another whilst their victim regrettably realises his fate. Nightshift is a short moralistic narrative which focuses on a particular fare for a frustrated London cabbie. And this takes place on one very wet miserable Monday night.
