Synopsis

Das Problem einer Wahrheit der Literatur beschaeftigt Dichter und Literaturtheoretiker seit antiken Zeiten. Die vorliegenden Studien befassen sich mit der Entwicklung verschiedener Wahrheitskonzeptionen von Aristoteles bis Lessing. Es lassen sich bei Aristoteles zwei unterschiedliche Wahrheitskonzepte aufzeigen, die im 18. Jahrhundert aufgegriffen und entsprechend den Praemissen der zeitgenoessischen, philosophischen Schulen modifiziert wurden. Shaftesbury, Gottsched und Breitinger stehen paradigmatisch fuer drei Positionen, die das aristotelische Modell fuer ihre Zwecke nutzen, kreativ umformulieren und z.T. ergaenzen. Lessing erreicht im Rueckgriff auf Aristoteles eine hoehere Reflexionsstufe in dieser Wahrheitsdiskussion: in den Abhandlungen ueber die Fabel und im Laokoon konzipiert er unterschiedliche Wahrheitsmodelle fuer die Fabel und die narrativen Gattungen. In der Hamburgischen Dramaturgie schliesslich entwirft er ein voellig neues, umfassendes Konzept einer Wahrheit der Literatur.

Der Autor: Karl-Heinz Finken studierte Germanistik, Anglistik, Philosophie und Paedagogik in Muenster und Hamburg. Er erhielt seinen M.A. von der University of Cincinnati, den Ph.D. von der Harvard University. Neben Veroeffentlichungen zur Literatur des 18. Jahrhunderts ist er der Autor von mehreren Computerprogrammen fuer den Sprachunterricht. Er lehrt z.Zt. an der University of Montana.
