L'auteur: Nancy Sloan Goldberg, professeur de langue et de litterature francaises a Middle Tennessee State University aux Etats-Unis, dirige aussi le programme d'etudes superieures de cette section et organise plusieurs stages intensifs pour les enseignants de francais et d'espagnol. Titulaire d'une licence es lettres et d'une maitrise es sciences de l'University of Wisconsin-Madison, elle a aussi recu une maitrise es lettres et un doctorat en litterature francaise de Vanderbilt University. Ses recherches se trouvent a la croisee des chemins entre la litterature et l'histoire, un sujet traite dans plusieurs articles et au cours de nombreuses conferences.
