Synopsis

In den zwei Jahrzehnten vor etwa 1780 entstand eine Reihe von Sing- spielen mit gleicher Handlungsstruktur, von denen Mozarts Ent- fuehrung aus dem Serail nur das bekannteste Beispiel ist. In der vorliegenden Arbeit werden diese Tuerkenopern als Ausdruck der zeitgenoessischen politisch-militaerischen Situation interpretiert und in die Geschichte der europaeischen Vorstellungen vom islamischen Kulturbereich eingebettet. Anschliessend werden die drei im Titel genannten Hauptwerke der deutschen Fruehklassik bzw. Spaetaufklaerung auf dieses Handlungsschema bezogen. Sie werden damit in einen ueberraschend fruchtbaren Kontext gestellt, in den der Konfrontation der europaeischen Kreuzzugsideologie mit dem angeblich minderwertigen Anderen.
