Synopsis

Cet ouvrage est sous-tendu par une problematique precise : comment est-ce que Julio Cortazar a ecrit Rayuela (Buenos Aires, 1963); Georges Perec, La Vie mode d'emploi (Paris, 1978); et Yolande Villemaire, La Vie en prose (Montreal, 1980) ? Il s'inscrit dans la mouvance des travaux actuels en critique genetique, lesquels s'interessent a la genese de textes litteraires des XIXe, XXe et XXIe siecles en deplacant l'etude de ces textes vers celle de leur avant-texte (plans, scenarios, esquisses, notes, brouillons, etats successifs, mises au net ou epreuves corrigees). La visee originale de ce courant de recherche est de decrire et de theoriser les processus scripturaux a travers une utilisation flexible des outils critiques herites du (post)structuralisme. Le premier chapitre fait un survol de ce champ de recherche, de meme qu'une description de la methode qui a guide le projet. Les chapitres suivants, consacres respectivement a Cortazar, a Perec et a Villemaire, apres une description de l'avant-texte, presentent les grandes lignes du recit de la genese pour ensuite donner lieu a des analyses plus ponctuelles.

Toute l'etude est traversee par un questionnement qui a reussi a devoiler certaines modalites des figures de l'auteur-scripteur et du lecteur dans la production de ces trois romans postmodernes. Quelles ont ete les strategies que l'ecrivain a elaborees afin de se dissimuler dans les replis de son texte (les masques de l'ecriture) et comment, au cours de la redaction, a-t-il peu a peu menage un role a son lointain lecteur (ses mirages) ?

L'auteur : Danielle Constantin a fait des etudes litteraires a l'Universite McGill (Montreal, Quebec), a l'Universidad de las Americas (Puebla, Mexique) et au Centre de litterature comparee de l'Universite de Toronto (Canada) ou elle a obtenu un doctorat. Le Conseil de recherches en sciences humaines du Canada lui a octroye une bourse postdoctorale. Elle a publie des articles de critique genetique dans de nombreux periodiques et a presente ses travaux dans des colloques internationaux au Canada, aux Etats-Unis, en France, en Belgique, en Tunisie, en Inde et en Chine. Elle vit a Paris et est membre de l'equipe Genese et autobiographie de l'ITEM (Institut des textes et manuscrits modernes).
