Die Interpretationen zu Geschichten uber Sprache aus drei Jahrtausenden zeigen, dass sich unser Denken und Wissen uber Sprache nicht nur begrifflich in Form von Theorien konkretisieren lasst, sondern auch narrativ in Form von Erzahlungen. Die narrative Objektivierungsweise hat gegenuber der begrifflichen ganz bestimmte Vorteile. Wir lernen die Sprache nicht in methodisch motivierten abstrakten Vereinfachungen kennen, sondern in konkreten kognitiven und kommunikativen Handlungszusammenhangen. Dadurch tritt sie fur uns als ein sehr komplexes Phanomen in Erscheinung, das nicht leicht auf Begriffe zu bringen ist. Geschichten uber Sprache fordern deshalb nicht nur unser allgemeines sprachtheoretisches Sinnbildungsvermogen heraus, sondern auch unsere hermeneutische Kraft, ihren kulturgeschichtlichen Stellenwert adaquat einzuschatzen.
