I wrote eight books of poetry of various sizes between 1986 and 2001. This collection is the largest volume and contains some of the earliest poems I put into book form. It had never been my intention to publish these poems, I never considered them to have any value to anyone, and I had put them away to gather dust and die quietly. But for some reason they never did die and kept surfacing. I never felt they deserved to be printed or would ever mean anything to anyone, but I always seemed to remember that they were there, so I decided to publish them just for that reason, because may be they deserved that from me and thanks are due to Chris Walton and Simon Potter for making the publishing of this book painless and easy. At a funeral, many years ago, the parents of my friend asked to see a book of poetry I had written about him at that time. They, then, asked me if they could keep the book as it meant a lot to them. I gave them the only copy I had. And I'm glad that I did. It wasn't much, I was glad I had it to give. They told me then, that it meant a lot to them and that they knew I would never forget. They were right; I never did forget.
