Synopsis

The Dragonfly tells the story of Anthony Dean, who was a young teacher at Fieldhouse School, of his doomed love for an older married woman, and also of Laura, the woman who, some years later, tries to find the truth about his sad life. As a dreamy, imaginative teenager, Laura thinks she sees the ghost of a young man whilst staying at Fieldhouse. Despite much scepticism, she delves into Anthony Dean's story and is deeply affected by the little she knows, realising she will never forget it. Laura eventually returns to live at Fieldhouse and comes under the old spell of Anthony Dean. This time she is determined to find all the pieces of this jigsaw and fit them together. Will she be able to lay the ghost that haunts her at last?
