Synopsis

Seeking escape from modern drudgery, the learned Horace joins a tour of the ancient wonders of Greece. The tour guide's knowledge is limited compared to his own - but still, he is fascinated by her.Horace Lancaster - named after the classical Greek poet - is the eponymous courier. He is a leader of tourists, a holiday guide, 'our man on the spot'. But Horace is reluctant to continue working for his employer and is terribly tired of being tied to other people's schedules, other people's holiday whims. When Uncle Egbert dies and leaves his nephew a tidy inheritance, Horace decides it's time to become a tourist himself and embarks on a tour of his beloved classical Greece. Horace is to discover that not all tour companies are the same and that some are even run by heart-stoppingly beautiful young ladies. thus Horace Lancaster falls in love! Little does he know as he begins his holiday just what the gods have in store for him, or that his fate is linked with that of the wonderful Maria Pappas.
