Synopsis

Dieses Buch setzt sich zum Ziel, August Strindbergs formale Erneuerungen, die zur Entstehung des Stationendramas fuehrten, anhand einer Analyse der Dramen Strindbergs Nach Damaskus I und Die grosse Landstrasse zu demonstrieren. Ueberdies erstrebt die Studie eine Definition, die der Vielschichtigkeit dieser Gattung gerecht wird. Im Mittelpunkt der Studie stehen die stationentechnische Struktur, die Komplexitaet der Mittelpunktsfigur, der subjektive Gebrauch der Farben und die leitmotivische Technik. Die Ergebnisse dieser Analyse werden auf ueber dreissig deutsche Stationendramen bezogen, unter anderen auf Werke von Georg Kaiser, Franz Csokor, Ernst Toller und Franz Werfel, woraus die Verknuepfung des deutschen Stationendramas mit Strindbergs dramatischen Errungenschaften hervorgeht.

Der Autor: Johannes Evelein lebt seit 1990 in den USA. Er erwarb seinen Magister an der Rijksuniversiteit Groningen und promovierte an der State University of New York at Albany. Er unterrichtete deutsche und niederlaendische Sprache und Literatur an der State University of New York at Albany und ist zur Zeit Assistant Professor an der Brigham Young University in Utah.
