Synopsis

Tema y estructura en el teatro del siglo XVI y XVII en Hispanoamericana y Espana se divide en dos partes principales: el teatro colonial en Hispanoamerica y el teatro del Siglo de Oro en Espana. La primera parte del libro se centra en el influjo espanol en el teatro colonial en el siglo XVI, a partir de que Espana envio misioneros al Nuevo Mundo (1519-1550), y se desarrolla en la tradicion medieval y al amparo de la religion catolica. Dentro del caudal de dramaturgos del teatro misionero se halla Fernan Gonzalez de Eslava (1550-1609), quien aporto dieciseis obras de teatro. Posteriormente se analiza el teatro en el Barroco Mexicano hasta llegar al analisis parcial del teatro de Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz. La segunda parte analiza la obra parcial de algunos dramaturgos del Siglo de Oro en Espana, entre ellos: Tirso de Molina, Lope de Vega, Calderon de la Barca y Juan Ruiz de Alarcon. El tema del honor, de la fama y de la honra al igual que algunas consideraciones de orden social se destacan en el analisis de la obra de estos cuatro dramaturgos del Siglo de Oro.

El autor: Manuel Antonio Arango L nacio en Colombia, hizo estudios universitarios en la Universidad de Bogota, Jorge Tadeo Lozano, y de Postgrado en el Instituto Caro y Cuervo de Bogota, recibio el Master of Arts en the University of Toronto, Canada, obtuvo su primer doctorado en la Universite de Paris, Sorbonne, Francia, y recibio su segundo doctorado en la UNED de Madrid, Espana. Recibio el Full Professor y el Professor Emeritus en la Universite Laurentienne (Laurentian University), Ontario, Canada, donde ocupo las catedras de Literatura Latinoamericana y de Filologia Hispanica. Ha publicado once libros sobre Literatura Hispanoamericana, uno sobre Espanol de America y otro de Literatura Espanola. Autor de numerosos articulos en las areas de Literatura Hispanoamericana, de Literatura Espanola y de Espanol de America publicados en diferentes revistas academicas de Europa y America.
