Mary de Loyht-Arendt was born in Independence, Missouri, and received her associate of arts degree from Columbia College and a BAFA from the University of Missouri. She has more than forty awards for her paintings and has written for books and magazines. Her work has been featured in multiple solo and group exhibitions across the country. A strong advocate of en plein air painting, de Loyht-Arendt is a signature member of Plein Air Painters of America and has written articles about the method. She also holds memberships to the National Watercolor Society, Arizona Artist Guild, and Arizona Watercolor Association. De Loyht-Arendt lives in Scottsdale, Arizona.
