Oriundo del Brasil-Rio de Janeiro, estudio abogacia en la Universidad Federal Fluminense y obtuvo la maestria (M.A.) y el doctorado (Ph.D.) en Literatura hispanoamericana de Temple University. Sus intereses criticos abarcan estudios de literatura comparada entre autores brasilenos, peninsulares y latinoamericanos, asi como un examen analitico de la tecnicas literarias contemporaneas y su aplicacion al arte de novelar de distintos escritores.
