Synopsis

Mayormente escritas desde la perspectiva de mujeres protagonistas, las novelas estudiadas revelan una incesante busqueda de realizacion a nivel tanto individual como colectivo. A las vicisitudes de las relaciones sociales y familiares de los personajes, en particular los femeninos, se suman acontecimientos historicos relacionados con la historia de Cuba que conducen al individuo a inesperadas vivencias.

El autor: Antonio A. Fernandez-Vazquez es director del Programa Graduado de Inmersion Intensiva en frances y espanol en Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, donde ensena tambien literatura y cultura hispanicas. Recibio su doctorado de la Universidad de Kentucky, especializandose en la literatura hispanoamericana. Ha publicado numerosos articulos en revistas y colecciones criticas sobre la literatura cubana escrita fuera de Cuba y es autor del libro La novelistica cubana de la revolucion: testimonio y evocacion en las novelas cubanas escritas fuera de Cuba 1959-1975.
