Diary of a Reluctant Green: Can You Save the Planet and Have a Life? (Paperback)

Unavailable. No reason given.

Richard Hallows was very unconvinced that going green would be easy enough to keep himself motivated, or that his small contribution to the planet's welfare would be worth having. However, guilt and a desire to reduce his household bills persuaded him, reluctantly, to give it a try. This is his diary of the first few months of going green - funny, cynical and full of practical tips. He's not always convinced by the arguments, he's driven mad by the contradictions in eco-guidelines, and he doesn't always succeed. But he reveals how his family manages to save the planet at least a little bit, without having to knit their own pasta or wear sandals.

Richard Hallows has almost no Green credentials whatsoever, which is what makes him perfect to write this book. He is not an earnest bearded cyclist who eschews all forms of personal hygiene for the benefit of the planet. He has, however, determined a personal incentive to reduce the footprint he has on the planet, and that means going green against his will, and despite having several very good reasons why he shouldn't do it.
