Synopsis

Becoming a dad can be a daunting time - especially when most pregnancy and parenting information is targeted towards women. This exciting new book, from a leading expert in working with expectant dads, doesn't sideline or speak down to men. Instead it provides an array of targeted information to fully prepare men for their new roles - as both birth partners and fathers.

The Expectant Dad's Handbook is a one-stop guide for men on their path to fatherhood. It provides practical answers to all the questions on the mind of a dad-to-be - from what to expect at each stage of pregnancy to how to cope with any worries and fears about becoming a dad. It also reveals unique insights into a dad's role during labour, showing key strategies for improving the birth.

Both practical and accessible, this guide will provide all the information and advice fathers need for the journey ahead.

Dean Beaumont specialises in working with expectant and new fathers, and is the founder of the award winning DaddyNatal. Dean teaches DaddyNatal classes throughout the East Midlands and London. He is often asked to speak at events, most recently at The Royal College of Medicine Conference on the role of the father at birth. 'Antenatal Pioneer' (Daily Mail, 2011) Dean is a regular contributor to features around the role of the man/father in the family and at birth. Dean frequently is asked for his expertise in this field, and appearances include Channel 5's 'The Wright Stuff', BBC 1s 'The One Show', and various BBC/CH4 documentaries (featured on BBC3 documentary `How Sex Works' in Jan 2012 and BBC2 documentary `How to be a Dad' in Feb 2012). Most recently, Dean featured on the Sky documentary `She's Having a Baby' (August 2014) and filmed with Jon Richardson for a Channel 4 documentary which aired in Autumn 2014. Dean founded the unique DaddyNatal http://www.daddynatal.co.uk/ antenatal education programme, becoming the first male professional antenatal educator in the UK.
