English introduction by Carol Poore, German original text by August Spies. Einleitung von Carol Poore in englischer, Originaltext von August Spies in deutscher Sprache. August Spies emigrated to the United States in 1872 and settled in Chicago. As editor of the Chicago Arbeiter-Zeitung, he was a prominent social revolutionary, affiliated with the anarchist International Working Peoples' Association. He was involved in the Haymarket Affair and was hanged for it in Chicago in November 1887. This collection of his writings is an insightful personal statement and provides a compelling account of the development of German-Ameri- can radicals in Chicago. November 1887 in Chicago gehaengt.
