Desireux de contribuer au changement d'un monde bouleverse par le premier conflit mondial, ils devinrent des membres actifs du Parti communiste. Accuses de trotskysme et expulses du Parti en 1927, ils decouvrirent dans le temoignage litteraire la seule catharsis a leur desillusion politique. Cet ouvrage donne d'abord un apercu du contexte social, politique et culturel de l'entre-deux-guerres ainsi qu'une analyse des relations unissant auteurs belges et francais, avant de passer a l'etude du role joue par l'ideologie communiste dans l'oeuvre de Charles Plisnier, Victor Serge et Constant Malva.

S'interessant depuis de nombreuses annees a la litterature belge de langue francaise, elle a ecrit differentes notices pour Le Dictionnaire des OEuvres belges de langue francaise et elle se specialise actuellement dans le domaine de la traduction.
