Synopsis

The issue of energy resources and how best to grow, manage and maintain them is a growing area of interest in the world. There are relatively few books on this topic as it relates to the situation in Africa. Those that do exist tend to provide overviews of the continent or sub-Saharan Africa; few (if any) offer in-depth case studies examining the factors that impinge on government bodies and the private sector in the process of infrastructure and business development. Power-sector reform and regulation in Africa offers detailed, up-to-date and original research into how governments and policymakers in six African countries have grappled with the development of their energy sectors. Arising out of a two-year peer-learning process involving senior executives in the electricity regulators in each country, the book contains an intelligent and clear analysis of the knowledge and shared experiences gathered in Africa by African scholars. This ground-breaking study will be of interest to researchers in business and management studies, development studies, sociology and governance.

Also policy makers and decision makers in regulatory bodies in developing economies, regional development banks and donor agencies as well as entrepreneurs and investors with interests in Africa.
