Synopsis

In der fruehen Phase seines Werks gilt der Schriftsteller Pavel Kohout als das Sinnbild des tschechischen sozialistischen Realismus. Dies trifft auch fuer sein dramatisches Werk Anfang der fuenfziger Jahre zu. Waehrend die Prosa vor allem des sowjetischen sozialistischen Realismus des oefteren untersucht worden ist, wurde dem Drama kaum Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt. Die vorliegende Arbeit stellt sich die Aufgabe den Dramatiker Kohout sowohl im Kontext der Tschechischen literarischen Tradition als auch im Hinblick auf die Spezifik des tschechischen sozialistischen Realismus vorzustellen. In diesem Zusammenhang werden auch Themen wie die tschechische nationale Wiedergeburt, die Avantgarde oder die neueste tschechische Literatur (Havel, Kundera) behandelt.

Die Autorin: Veronika Ambros, geboren 1947 in Prag, studierte in Koeln am Rhein und Berlin Slavistik und Politische Wissenschaften. Von 1981 bis 1988 war sie wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin in der Abteilung Slavische Literaturen der Freien Universitaet Berlin. 1983 bis 1985 war sie als Visiting Assistant Professor an die Universitaet Toronto eingeladen, wo sie seit 1989 in der Abteilung Slavische Sprachen und Literaturen als Assistant Professor beschaeftigt ist.
