Die Autorin: Gabriele Eckart wurde 1954 in Falkenstein (DDR) geboren. 1987 wanderte sie in die USA aus, 1993 promovierte sie an der Universitaet von Minnesota in Germanistik. Sie veroeffentlichte mehrere Buecher in Ost- und Westdeutschland, die bekanntesten sind So sehe ick die Sache (Kiepenheuer & Witsch, 1984), Per Anhalter (Kiepenheuer & Witsch, 1986), und Der gute fremde Blick (Kiepenheuer & Witsch, 1992). Zur Zeit unterrichtet sie Deutsch und Spanisch am Spring Hill College in Alabama.
