Immunomorphological Analysis of the Human Inner Ear (Paperback)

Unavailable. No reason given.

Immunomorphological techniques are useful tools to understand relations between structure and function. In inner ear research, much information has been gained from experimental studies using both in vivo and in vitro designs. Although the principles for the structure and function of sensory organs can be expected to be largely similar among mammals, interspecies variations do occur, for instance as described for the distribution of subsurface cisternae in human outer hair cells with specific functional interpretations. Species differences can not be ignored even at the cytoskeletal level. To understand labyrinthine disorders and make it possible to treat them in the future, it is of the utmost importance to reconfirm or reject data from experimental conditions using human material. This volume focuses on a series of articles dealing with immunomorphological analyses of the human labyrinth. The book includes material on over 60 temporal bones, the majority of which has been collected postmortally, but prepared to give an optimal preservation of morphology, analyzing the in situ condition.
