Synopsis

Wenn ich mich entschlossen habe, einen wesentlichen Teil der Ergebnisse meiner jahrelangen Forschungen bei multipler Sklerose zu ver�ffentlichen, so geschieht dies vor allem deshalb, weil mir nunmehr der Augenblick eines gewissen Abschlusses der Untersuchungen gekommen zu sein scheint, von dem an die weitere Mitarbeit eines gr��eren Kreises interessierter und sachverst�ndiger Fachgenossen der Sache dienen wird. Die �tiologische Aufkl�rung des Leidens hat manche Umwege erforderlich gemacht. Zum Nachweis des aus den Erfahrungen des Tierexperiments ver- muteten Krankheitserregers in den erkrankten Geweben des Menschen war die Ausarbeitung eines besonderen Verfahrens erforderlich. Nachdem dies geschehen war, mu�te das neue Verfahren an einem bekannten Beispiel erprobt werden, bevor das �tiologisch unbekannte Gebiet der multiplen Sklerose in Angriff ge- nommen werden konnte. Dementsprechend gliedert sich auch der Inhalt dieses Buches in drei gro�e Abschnitte; in einen ersten �ber das neue Verfahren, in einen zweiten, der die Anwendung desselben auf die progressive Paralyse und andere bekannte Spiro- ch�tosen behandelt, und schlie�lich in einen dritten und wichtigsten, �ber die Anwendung des neuen Verfahrens auf die multiple Sklerose.
