Finding the time and funds to attend conferences or to earn continuing education contact hours isn't always possible. "The Hazelden Clinical Innovators Series" makes it easier for you.By the year 2020, SAMHSA expects over a 60 per cent increase in people aged 50 and over needing substance abuse treatment. Compared to adults whose drug use began in the 1960s, this future audience faces an increased risk of comorbid diseases and mental health consequences. Perhaps the nation's leading authorities on this client population, Frederic Blow and David Oslin present evidence-based strategies found in SAMHSA's promising practices. This program is essential for treatment centers, nursing homes, and community service centers.

Frederick Blow, Ph.D., directs the Department of Veteran Affairs division of the Serious Mental Illness Treatment Research and Evaluation Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. David Oslin, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center and the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Both authors co-chair the Huss Research Chair at Hazelden, conducting research on the topic of older adults and alcohol and drug abuse. Older Adults and Addictionincludes a video workshop on DVD, a clinician's manual written by Blow ad Oslin and a test that allows you to earn continuing education contact hours. The changing needs of older adults facing addiction make this program of major importance. This is why NAADAC and CAADAC have approved the post-test for Fredrick Blow and David Oslin's Older Adults and Addiction for 10 CE hours.
