Stephen Blackmore's interest in natural history whas taken him to some unusual and fascinating part os the world. He studied botany at the University of Reading the he spent a year on the Royal Society's research station on the remote coral atoll of Aldabra, home of more than 250,000 giant tortoises. He was later head of the National Herbarium in Malawi and taught botany there. He now works on research into pollen grains.
