Beate Hahn Paulus (1778-1842), Tochter des wurttembergischen Pfarrers und Pietisten Philipp Matthaus Hahn und Ehefrau des Pfarrers Karl Friedrich Paulus (1763-1828) fuhrte in einer Lebens- und Ehekrise uber elf Jahre ein Tagebuch. Die ungleiche Frommigkeit des Ehepaares, sie Pietistin und ihr Mann lutherisch-orthodox, fuhrte zu Konflikten, so vor allem uber die Ausbildungswege der Sohne. In ihrem Schreiben schildert Beate Hahn Paulus ihren zahen Kampf um die Finanzierung ihrer Ausbildung, verteidigt ihren Ungehorsam als Ehefrau und fleht unermudlich Jesus um Hilfe an. Das Tagebuch gewahrt in selten offener Weise Einsicht in den Ehekonflikt eines Pfarrpaares, in den dorflichen Alltag, dorfliche Kreditsysteme, in die Okonomie eines Pfarrhauses und in die burgerlichen Verwandtschaftsstrukturen.
