Mercedes Alcala Galan se doctoro en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Ha ensenado en la Universidad de Madison-Wisconsin, y ha colaborado con varias universidades e instituciones docentes mediante seminarios y conferencias. Es autora de numerosos articulos enfocados principalmente en la literatura hispanica y en la retorica, y en la actualidad prepara un libro sobre teoria literaria en Cervantes becado por el Ministerio de Cultura espanol.
