Synopsis

Regards francais sur l'Amerique : de l'Entre-deux-guerres a la Guerre froide se concoit comme une analyse des reactions de divers intellectuels francais a certains aspects de la culture et politique americaines. Base en grande partie sur les ecrits de l'equipe redactionnelle des Temps modernes, une revue fondee par Jean-Paul Sartre et Simone de Beauvoir en 1945, cet ouvrage examine les observations cueillies a l'egard des Etats-Unis par les susmentionnes fondateurs de cette revue, ainsi que celles de maints collaborateurs des Temps modernes. De plus, cet ouvrage etablit une comparaison entre les impressions divulguees a propos de cette meme thematique par l'equipe redactionnelle des Temps modernes et les perceptions des Etats-Unis proposees par des penseurs francais, y compris Alexis de Tocqueville, Andre Siegfried, Georges Duhamel, Robert Aron, Arnaud Dandieu, Vladimir Pozner, Frantz Fanon, et Bernard-Henri Levy, parmi d'autres. Le propos de ce projet est d'examiner les observations de ces penseurs sur plusieurs aspects de la vie americaine, en abordant des themes tels que le puritanisme, la litterature, la question raciale, la musique, et l'anticommunisme.

En vue de l'approche de ce livre, on peut juger qu'il s'agit ici d'une etude sur la perception transculturelle et les ecueils epistemologiques poses par ce genre de perception. Ce livre est destine aux individus cherchant a elargir leurs connaissances sur les attitudes et les prises de position des Francais envers les Etats-Unis, et a ce titre il s'avere utile comme manuel pour tout cours traitant de ce sujet.
