Chic yet practical, sophisticated yet comforting, Lisa Stickley's designs are guaranteed to delight. With hints of old-fashioned charm, Lisa reinterprets the core home items with a quirky individuality and a modern twist. This irresistible collection of homesewn designs, ranging from simple cushions to comfy bed covers, mixes timeless classics with current trends. The book opens with a comprehensive Basic Techniques section, moving on to four key areas of the home: Kitchen, Living room, Bedroom and Laundry. All the projects are stylish yet simple; most require only minimal sewing skills and can be made in a weekend. Who would not want to add a touch of individuality to their home with a patched bedspread, a cheery storage bag, a quirky doorstop or a pin-tucked cushion? Illustrated step-by-step instructions take you through each stage of the project, building on the techniques already learnt and increasing your level of sewing competence. Discover how to finish seams, stitch hems and hand-sew buttonholes whilst making gorgeous items for your own home. The emphasis is on practical but inspirational ideas that all share the unmistakeable Lisa Stickley look.

Wherever relevant, Lisa gives advice on alternative fabrics and trimmings, colour and pattern combinations and other special touches. Made at Home gives you all the skills you need to personalise your interior, whether you're trying to furnish a first home on a budget or you simply want to refresh a tired room with new cushions. Whatever your sewing experience, you'll find great ideas for your home.

Lisa Stickley is an internationally renowned textile designer, with an expanding homewares and furniture range. After training at the prestigious Central St Martins College of Art and Design in London, Lisa was approached by Burberry to create a range of tablecloths for them in 2002. This was to be the starting point for Lisa's own business, which sells charming yet affordable homewares. With a growing number of distribution channels overseas, including Japan and the US, Lisa boasts Sarah Jessica Parker, Angelina Jolie and Kirsten Dunst as fans of her work. In the UK, her homewares are stocked by John Lewis, Selfridges, Heal's, Liberty and Fenwicks and she has been invited to design a collection exclusively for Debenhams under the 'Designer at Debenhams' banner. She has her own showroom-cum-workshop in South London. Author Location: London
