Synopsis

Team racing is great for fast, fun and different sailboat racing. It helps develop some key skills for future racing success, including starting, boat control in close manoeuvres, boat handling and boat-on-boat tactics. This handy companion tells you all you need to know about team racing. Whether it be 2-, 3- or 4-boat; in Optimists; two-man dinghies or keelboats, everything is covered. Chris Atkins has distilled his 40 years' experience in the sport - as national champion, world championship medal winning coach and umpire - into 24 packed pages. With this guide you will learn about the rules, practising effectively, building a great team and, most importantly, how to become champion team racers. The book covers the benefits of team racing, how it is conducted and how to do it. With special emphasis on how to overtake and slow down the opposition, from the start and around the course to the finish. It covers practising, developing the winning habit and the team roles. The rules are discussed and applied to team racing as well as the role of umpires and being umpired.
