There is something for every boxing fan in the Boxing Miscellany. Within these pages, there are hundreds of fascinating facts about pugilistic history on a wide range of topics, from world champions and great fights to scandals and controversies outside the ring. It also features famous quotes, biographies, fight reports, boxing records, lists and numerous trivia entries. As the items appear completely at random, it is not only a book to be read from cover to cover, but one to be dipped into and enjoyed in three-minute rounds. Researched with unflagging energy by an unrivalled master of the sporting factoid and fully revised and updated, this new edition of The Boxing Miscellany will bring hours of reading pleasure to every lover of the sport famously called by boxing writer A.J. John White, dubbed the "Master of the Sporting Factoid", has created a niche market with his sports Miscellany series, which now contains well in excess of a dozen titles. From his home in Belfast, Northern Ireland, he has created a database of facts, stats and stories on a wide range of sports from football to Formula 1 and cricket to cycling. In addition to Carlton's Miscellany series, in 2008 he also produced White's Sporting Almanac. Boxing legend Barry McGuigan, "The Clones Cyclone", has written the Foreword. A former world featherweight champion (he also won a gold medal at the 1978 Commonwealth Games, at bantamweight), he won 32 of his 35 professional fights, 28 inside the distance. Since retiring, he has become a regular on television and radio as a boxing analyst.
