Synopsis

If you enjoy playing with colour combinations and like the idea of making a personal statement in your home, without any real skills in stitching, then this is just the book for you. It shows you how to combine colour and pattern in some exciting and interesting ways to make a range of easy to stitch projects that can be made in an evening, including: cushions; table mats; table runners; coasters; and laundry and peg bags. Jayne Emerson is a young British textile designer with a keen eye for contemporary design, and an unrivalled sense of colour. The patched and pierced techniques used in this book are the simplest possible, relying on colour and pattern juxtapositions, rather then intricate designs. All you need by way of equipment is the most basic of sewing machines, scissors, needle and thread. The fabrics used in the book can be purchased for the projects, but alternative colourways are suggested so that readers can use their own stockpile of fabrics.
