Bonnie Greer to cover life of Langston Hughes

American author Bonnie Greer is to write a biography about poet and novelist Langston Hughes for a new collection from publisher Arcadia.
Greer, an esteemed poet, playwright, novelist and critic, will write Langston Hughes: Rebel without a Cause as part of Arcadia's BlackAmber Inspirations series, which celebrates African, Caribbean and Asian heroes.
Rosemarie Hudson, commissioning editor of the series, commented: 'We have long been fans of Bonnie Greer and her work and are very happy to welcome her to our list. Her enthusiasm and dedication are infectious.'
As well as several volumes of poetry, Hughes wrote novels including Not without Laughter, children's books such as Popo and Fifina and plays like The Mule-Bone with Zora Neale Hurston. Greer's biography of the writer will be published in March 2011.
The BlackAmber Inspirations series also features books on United Nations commissioner for human rights Navi Pillay, trade union leader Bill Morris, Cuban ballet dancer Carlos Acosta, US president Barack Obama and sprinter Usain Bolt.
