|
Hear children’s author Nicola Davis and illustrator Rebecca Cobb creators of The Day War Came, the powerful and necessary tale of a child fleeing the terrors of war, as they discuss the events that inspired them and their work for the charity Help Refugees.
Following the publication of Nicola Davies’s poem The Day War Came which drew attention to the 3,000 unaccompanied Syrian children the UK government decided not to give a safe haven in 2016 – Nicola called on illustrators, authors and children to paint, draw or sketch an empty chair and share it on Twitter with #3000chairs
A selection of artwork created for the #3000Chairs campaign by some of the country’s most notable children’s illustrators will be displayed at this very special event. Nicola and Rebecca will discuss their work together and the importance of raising awareness for humanitarian causes with author of the bestselling Sinclair’s Mysteries series Katherine Woodfine followed by a Q&A.
