Superior: The Return of Race Science with Angela Saini

Tuesday 28th May 2019 7pm - 8pm 107 Charing Cross Road Literary Event, Signing, Chargeable Event

"We can draw lines across the world any way we choose, and in the history of race science, people have. What matters isn’t where the lines are drawn, but what they mean."

—Angela Saini, Superior: The Return of Race Science

In her new book Superior: The Return of Race Science, award-winning science journalist and author of Inferior Angela Saini goes back to Darwin, through eugenics, to the work of cutting-edge research today, showing how time and again science has been retrofitted to endorse cultural assumptions about race. Examining the significance political opinion has played in our understanding of race, she also looks at the present day, dissecting how and why racial difference has seen a resurgence as a tool of political threat.

Hear Saini talk about the core themes of her new book with author and journalist Reni Eddo-Lodge (Why I'm No Longer Talking To White People About Race). The event will be followed by an audience Q&A and author signing.

Tickets: £20 including a copy of Superior (RRP £16.99) / £8 standard / £5 Student or Foyalty member*. When purchasing a Student or Foyalty ticket, you'll need to bring a valid in-date Student card or Foyalty card with you.
