Foyles Chelmsford are thrilled to host an evening with Stacey Halls, debut author of The Familiars.
This historical novel is inspired by The Pendle Witch Trials that took place in Stacey's home county of Lancaster. Readers follow recently married Fleetwood Shuttleworth, in 1612, as she struggles with a difficult pregnancy. She soon discovers that the only person she trusts to help her carry her baby is a young midwife, Alice, who becomes caught up in the accusations of witchcraft which swept through the country.
A 'spell-binding' debut and a dramatic new voice in literature; Stacey will give a reading of her book, followed by a conversation, a Q&A and a signing.
