The Red Word: Sarah Henstra in conversation with Stephanie Boland

Wednesday 21st August 2019 7pm - 8pm 107 Charing Cross Road Literary Event, Signing, Chargeable Event

Plunge into the fraught gender dynamics and polarizing politics of US campus culture with award-winning Canadian author Sarah Henstra, as she discusses her thrilling new novel The Red Word with Prospect Magazine’s Stephanie Boland.

Henstra will introduce her novel, whose nail-biting suspense narrative and searing critique of frat culture has earned it the prestigious Governor General’s Literary Award for fiction in Canada. In particular, she will explore the rampant internalisation of rape culture within fraternities and sororities, as well as the isolating potential of these idiosyncratic environments—where fiery opinions, competitive intellectualism and stubborn complacency bolster conflict and create divides.

The event will be followed by a Q&A and a book signing.

Tickets: £16 including a copy of The Red Word (RRP £12.99) / £8 standard / £5 Student or Foyalty member*. When purchasing a Student or Foyalty ticket, you'll need to bring a valid in-date Student card or Foyalty card with you.

Venue: Level 6, Foyles 107 Charing Cross Road.
