New Cubism exhibition at The Gallery at Foyles delves into the process of video installation artist Marco Brambilla creating ‘Nude Descending a Staircase No. 3’ - a new site-specific artwork sited at the Arcade in the iconic Centre Point building.
Commissioned by the Arcade, ‘Nude Descending a Staircase No. 3’, like the Centre Point building itself, engages with artistic pioneers of the past, while simultaneously envisioning a dynamic, machine-based future.
Furthermore, New Cubism explores the concept of city as a cinematic experience, and the process of re-enlivening a historic building with public amenities, spaces and culture. Together with cultural placemaking agency Futurecity, Brambilla will create and curate public art projects that explore the extraordinary opportunities of film, video, 3D projection, virtual reality and augmented reality.
With special thanks to Conran+Partners, MICA, Almacantar.
