Funny Weather: Olivia Laing in conversation

Wednesday 15th April 2020 7pm - 8pm 107 Charing Cross Road Literary Event, Signing, Chargeable Event

‘A warm, thinking, enticing sweep of a book, like spending the afternoon with your brainiest friend.’

—Kate Mosse

We are thrilled to welcome award-winning author Olivia Laing to our flagship Charing Cross Road shop to talk with Octavia Bright (Literary Friction) about her eclectic new collection of writings Funny Weather: Art in an Emergency.

From love letters to music icons such as David Bowie and Freddie Mercury, to essays on sex and the body; from interviews with literary figures to wide-ranging pieces about women and alcohol, Laing will lead us down the many pathways of her writing career to date, in an evening of curious literary exploration. She will also argue the case for our continued documentation of the world through art and culture, to form crystalline evidence of these increasingly uncertain times.

‘A brave writer whose books open up fundamental questions about life and art’

—Laura Feigel, The Telegraph

The event will be followed by a Q&A and book signing.
