Synopsis
Dean Anthony, a tenured English Literature professor, is revered by his students for his charismatic style of 'jousting with the text.' Endowed with innumerable middle-class graces, he is further blessed with a prodigious barrister wife and two adorable children. After he stumbles upon a photo of adult star Lilly Wenzler, he becomes obsessed with her. This infatuation sends his life spiraling out of control, threatening the loss of home and family.
Whilst homeless, his vulnerabilities are laid bare. The traumas of his childhood by his emotionally abusive mother resurface as he battles to regain his life. His emotions towards Lilly become hostile as he unearths facts about her private life that contradicts her image online. His professionalism at the university falls under scrutiny.
Can the revaluation of traditional ethics and the virtues of yesteryear save him in the modern world? Or are the Faustian trappings of toxic masculinity, offered to him by one of his students, the solution to his problems?
