Gareth E. Rees in Conversation with Gary Budden

Wanderer and writer Gareth E. Rees launches his latest keen-eyed and world-expanding book, Sunken Lands, in a conversation at Foyles with Gary Budden.

Roaming through vanished villages, submerged forests and drowned civilisations, Gareth E. Rees upends our sense of future on a journey through the lost worlds of our past. Melancholy, hopeful, dazzling, Sunken Lands is the latest, much-needed musings from one of the most original writers working today.

Gareth E. Rees is the author of Unofficial Britain, longlisted for the Ondaatje Prize and one of the Sunday Times best books of the year 2020. He's also the author of Car Park Life, The Stone Tide and Marshland. His first short story collection, Terminal Zones, was published in 2022 and examines the strangeness of everyday life in a time of climate change. Gareth is also a vocalist and guitarist in the garage punk band, The Dirty Contacts and psych band, Black Arches.

Gareth will be in conversation with writer and editor Gary Budden. He is the author of the books Hollow Shores, Judderman (as D.A. Northwood), London Incognita and The White Heron Beneath the Reactor and These Towers Will One Day Slip Into the Sea with artist Maxim Griffin.

This event will be followed by an audience Q&A and book signing. Doors open from 6:45pm.
