Korean Culture Month: An Evening with Joo Dong-geun

To celebrate Korean Culture Month, we are delighted to welcome Joo Dong-geun to Foyles, the artist behind the sensational webtoon 'All of Us Are Dead', for his debut appearance in the UK.

Joo Dong-geun is a South Korean webtoon artist well known for his debut work, All of Us Are Dead. Joo Dong-geun found the inspirations of his work during his university years after watching the films Dawn of the Dead and 28 Days Later. Profoundly impacting his work, cinema sparked his creation of a Korean-style zombie story, setting out to make ‘the most Korean zombie story that resonates with our cultural identity.’ In 2022, All of Us Are Dead was adapted into a Netflix original series, entering the Top 10 rankings in over 90 countries.

This event will be chaired by Dr Yunah Lee. Lee is a Principal Lecturer and a Subject Lead at the Centre for Design History at the University of Brighton. Her research focuses on design history, visual and material culture in Korea and East Asia, transnational and cross-cultural studies of modernity and modernism, representations of national and personal identities, and political agencies of art and design.
